Writer Marc Guggenheim, who has gained popularity for reworking Peter Parker in the Amazing Spider-man comic, is talking about his involvement in the new Green Lantern movie.
The writer said that he is currently working on the movie script and that it will be a “faithful rendition” of the beloved comicbook superhero.
However, Guggenheim didn’t specify which Green Lantern he is working on. Will it be Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner or (gasp!) Guy Gardner? We’ll definitely know in the coming months.

September 28th, 2008 at 7:36 pmFilm Fodder says it’s Hal Jordan. I understand wanting the classic character, but Stewart would have finally challenged the white superhero stereotype that has been plaguing the recent surge of adaptations. Oh well.
Greg Berlanti reportedly directing? (Rolls eyes.)
So much for guaranteeing a solid film version of my favorite comic book hero. I’ll still hold onto a glimmer of optimism though. For nostalgia’s sake.

May 7th, 2009 at 6:07 pmThe perfect Green Lantern will be Sam Witwer from Smallville. I know you must be thinking that I am crazy but just look at him. He has the face and build for the role. He is in about his late 20s or early 30s which makes him even more perfect for the part. He has acting experience so its not like another Brandon Routh incident will reoccur. If not him then I guess Chris Pine is the best rumored choice, but he is not a better one than Sam Witwer. If Pine was given the role he would be paid a ridiculous amount of money and everyone will view him as Captain Kirk, not Green Lantern. Pine also looks nothing like the Green Lantern…
I have many more reasons why he should play the Green Lantern. I am so confident in this that I have even written a petition. Here’s the link, read it and sign before you leave, I’m sure you will agree with me:
