This week’s DVD releases aren’t looking too shabby, especially with the release of much-anticipated film Babel.
Here’s the complete lineup for DVD releases for Tuesday February 20, 2007:
American Hardcore
Babel
Crossover
Flushed Away
For Your Consideration
The Godfather of Green Bay
Going Shopping
A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints
Keeping Mum
Lunacy
Man of the Year
The Prestige
Shut Up and Sing
Did I tell you this was a big week, or did I tell you? Babel aside, a good family movie is the newly released Flushed Away, there’s not too many okay family movies out there, so you gotta take what you can get, right?
Definitely skip over Robin Williams’ latest attempt at humor, Man of the Year, unless you want to end up in some kind of laugh-devoid coma. But you’re pretty much going to have see The Prestige, if even just because of the all-star lineup including Hugh Jackman, David Bowie, Scarlett Johansson, Christian Bale & Michael Caine.
All in all, this week’s DVD releases were none too shabby, provided that you skip most of them.

February 21st, 2007 at 12:57 amThere’s a great independent documentary on this Dixie Chicks incident titled, “Protesting the Dixie Chicks” which is based on interviews and events outside the Dixie Chicks 2003 tour. It certainly reaches a deeper ideological plane than “Shut Up and Sing” which was more of a Hallmark/Lifetime movie for me. This independent film’s direction is more in the mind of Errol Morris or Spike Lee — it definitely shows the dark side of partriotism.
There’s clips of it on youtube and these links
