Zack Snyder recently revealed that there is a proposed sequel to his hit movie 300. Yes, you read it right guys, a sequel to a historical event that was just given fantastical elements to make it ubercool.

Snyder said that he is talking with Frank Miller, who created the 300 graphic novel, about writing and drawing the graphic novel that will be the basis for the second film. Snyder said that until Miller finishes the novel scriptwriting will not commence.

He further revealed that the sequel will take place between the Battle of Thermopylae and the Battle of Plataea. Snyder said that he will definitely return for the sequel.

One of the best pieces of movie news I encountered today was the release of a new photo for the upcoming Watchmen movie. This new, which I have posted above, is a snapshot of The Minutemen in the 1940s. The photo is quite a strong image of the group during their heyday. It highly contrasts with the earlier pictures on the heroes that were highly modern.

Watchmen is definitely my most anticipated movie for 2009.

M Night Shyamalan’s new movie The Happening is getting a lot of buzz. Mainly, the buzz surrounds the possible plot points for the thriller. Already, many people are saying that this is going to have Shyamalan’s trademark plot twist — a device that has divided moviegoers into Night haters and fans. Haters say that it’s already a tired device that the director keeps using, in fact, all of his movies have plot twists.

The Happening is supposed to be Shyamalan’s “green movie”, a film with strong environmental themes. We’ll see what the possible plot twist is going to be — or if there is even one. In the meantime, here’s the very cool poster for the movie.

Last year, Paul Potts took the United Kingdom by storm by appearing in the Simon Cowell created reality show “Britain’s Got Talent”. the erstwhile cellphone salesman who was was quite conspicuous for his everyman looks and almost self deprecating demeanor wowed audiences with his talent. Apparently, beneath the shabby look is a guy who can actually sing opera — and sing it well. He became the Cinderella story that everyone lapped up. The underdog who was bullied as a child but became world famous doing something that he loves.

Now that life will be set to the big screen with the announcement that Paramount Pictures will develop a movie based on Potts’ life. Simon Cowell will produce film along with Michael Menchel and Steve Whitney from Relevant Entertainment.

If Potts’ first album is anything to go by, his biopic may become a hit, too. His debut album “One Chance” sold three million copies. He is now booked for 65 concert dates in over 13 countries.

Not bad for a cellphone salesman.

X-men and Wolvie fans will surely be delighted to know that the Wolverine spin-off movie has been greenlit. The official title of the movie is X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

According to reports the movie will revolve around Wolverine’s confusing past, more specifically during the time that he finds out about the world of mutants and of course the infamous Weapon X program that turns ordinary people or mutants into lethal living weapons.

Exact plot details are still being kept under wraps but one thing is for sure, according to both producers and star Hugh Jackman, the story will not solely revolve around one mutant. Sabretooth will definitely figure prominently in the movie and also expect a number of cool mutant cameos of both new and established mutant characters.

The movie is going to be directed by Gavin Hood whose previous credits include Rendition and Tsotsi. The movie has a tentative release date of May 1, 2009.

Ah, what celebs do for their craft! Jennifer Aniston braves the ghosts in the Heathman Hotel, Portland, where she’s filming the romantic comedy, Management. Co-stars include Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn.

Heathman Hotel, though one of the most luxe places in the city, is famous for being haunted. Guests have experienced screams, ghostly apparitions, and moving furniture. Some of the spirits even use the towels and glasses left in the room (though none have actually raided the mini-fridge).

Jennifer’s staying in a suite that costs $1,200 a night, just two floors above the haunted room.
