I’ve been reporting on the countless remakes that various Hollywood movie companies have in the works. I have to say that nostalgia may be good but when you remake shows that were not even that good at their prime then there is something seriously wrong with the creative reservoir in tinseltown.
Take for example the decision to remake Magnum PI. According to Entertainment Weekly, Universal Pictures is going to remake the 80’s TV series that introduced the world to 80’s mustachioed hunk Tom Selleck. According to reports, Matthew McConaughey has been offered the role of Thomas Magnum.
McConaughey is said to be reading the script written by director Raswon Marshall Thurber who helmed Dodgeball. Imagine Entertainment and Brian Grazer will be producing this remake.
At the rate things are going, I’m expecting a BJ and The Bear remake being announced soon.

March 3rd, 2009 at 8:15 pmThis would be great! The original series was never really meant to be taken too seriously and if they can capture the right essence then it would be a winner. However, I am not sure about McConaughey with a moustache?
