New Line wants a discussion, Peter Jackson wants an audit. If New Line has done nothing wrong, an audit should not matter to them. If you think about it, New Line is sort of saying "We've paid you more than a quarter of a billion, so who cares if we've missed 50-100 millions, right? Well, Peter rightly cares. It's a matter of principles. New Line is a big bully and arogant! Good on Peter to take a stand. Peter Jackson definetely!

Would I have done as PJ has? Probably not. Does that mean he's wrong? Not necessarily. I, after all, do not have the personality that created what he did. I would assume that his lawyer advised a course of action, and PJ just simply turned it over to him. This is how things are normally done; but lawyer do indeed have a way of escalating the problem, because they always want as much money as they can get, and no compromise. New Line has apparently chosen to see it differently. I think both sides should have fired their lawyers and talked to each other.
