At the 34th annual Evening Standard British Film Awards Saturday night, \ Daniel Craig picked up the Best Actor award but The Queen‘s Helen Mirren was left out in the cold when it came to Best Actress.

Mirren, a favorite to win this month’s Best Actress Oscar for her role in The Queen, lost out to Notes on a Scandal‘s Judi Dench for her role in that film as a cruel schoolteacher.  Poor Mirren, I’ll bet she’ll cheer right up with that upcoming Oscar though.

The Best Actor award for Craig is his very first honoring his James Bond portrayal, and what a portrayal it was.
