2015 has been a pretty good year for horror films. The remake of Poltergeist was great, and there are plenty of sequels for those that love franchises, like Paranormal Activity. While some people may be excited for Sinister 2 or Insidious 3, there are plenty of new stories to be told.
The Halloween season is here in the stores, and in the crisp air, so it is definitely time to check out some great scary movies and get in the mood for witches and werewolves, and other things that go bump in the night. If you enjoy horror movies, here are a few yet to come out this year that just might make the hair stand up on your neck.
The visit is currently in the theater, and like many horror films it is getting some mixed reviews. However, most true horror fans enjoy even the worst films, not to say this is the worst. The previews making it look like something nightmares are made of.
It’s about two kids that go to stay at their grandparents for a weekend, only to find out that there is something extremely wrong with grandpa and grandma. It’s sure to have a crazy twists, with M. Night Shyamalan’s name attached to it. It started in theaters on September 11.
Before I Wake
On September 25 the next horror film written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who was behind the masterpiece Oculus, comes out. Before I Wake looks to be an interesting movie about dreams and nightmares, and one little boy.
The trailer shows a little boy that doesn’t like to sleep. It’s because his dreams, and his nightmares, come true. A family takes him in only to find out about the boys mysterious and frightening issues.
This is probably one of the most anticipated horror films of the year. Why? Guillermo del Toro is an expert in the horror and the macabre. On top of that, it is starting Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain. What more could you ask for?
Coming pre Halloween, on October 16, this movie is about an aspiring author coping with a family tragedy who stays in a mysterious house. As she works through her demons, she finds that the home she is staying in is more than just a house. It’s a living thing.
If you are looking for a post Halloween, pre Christmas horror film that is actually about something nightmares are made of, Krampus comes out on November 25. It is a film about a mythological creature, named Krampus, that is believed to eat naughty children.
