The movie was great and ended the series quite well. I have to agree that it was disappointing that they had to leave the ones they loved, especially Winry, but in the end they got what they were looking for all long: Al got his body back and they were reunited. They hadn’t destroyed the gate yet so knowing them, they probably would have found a way to return back to their world and destroy the gate at the same time. It was a great show nonetheless, my favorite anime and ranks #1 on my list.

Great beginning. Really bad and sad ending. Poor Winry. Change it so i don’t have be sad. I prefer the original anime over brotherhood, except the endings.

I Really Enjoy the Movie But the ENDING Was Not Satisfying, It Was really Sucky It didn’t justify the hole Series! All that Hard work… And with the movie ending you could start a new series from that too see how that do… Awwwwwww

Personally, I adored the movie. As said, the animation, the story, everything is just amazing.
I see that many found the ending saddening and not up to standards with them. Though I admit, I was upset when the boys could not return home, I loved the ending with all my heart and soul, because it’s the imperfection of the ending that makes it perfect.
Think about it, the ending shows that not everything we want can be gotten. We all wanted the boys to be together again; They were. We all wanted Alphonse to regain his body; He did. But not the way you expected them to. Vic Mignogna, the voice of Edward, has said many times that he adores the ending because of the gaps it leaves in the plot, and all the questions it left behind. It’s not a perfect “Hollywood” ending. It’s just like life.

Im So Sadddd.. i havent seen the series by complete but i have seen episodes since i was very little.. i have like this kind of affliction to the series.. This couldn”t end like this AL and Ed must return to their home besides they haven’t destroyed the portal yet. And Mustang must be aware that they might want to come back. THe brothers have done to muchh to be very far from the ones they love. But i Think this is the end because the sensei died. I just wish the americans throw a series following the movie.. it would be like the best thing ever to happen

I found the movie very enjoyable, but like most of you agree the ending was a horrible dissapiontement. They really should do another series about Ed and Al’s travel through Germany and such to try and stop the war and find another way to get home. I would definitaly watch it.

I hated this movie so bad.

The series ended so well and then this movie came along to take a giant turd crap – yeah I know a turd is a crap, effectively I’m trying to saying double crap – all over it.

And at the end he abandons Winry. She had mad automail skillz it’s unfair. They abandon everyone.

Maybe. Maybe its because they have no souls. Maybe they didn’t trade in their experience, but instead they traded their souls in order for two Homunculi Eldrick borthers carry on they’re progidy. In fact, maybe instead of saving his brother with the Philosophers stone he just produced a really powerful, Homunculi. That would explain everything.

I take it back the film was genius.

Unless, their not Homunculi – which their not – then its just bullcrap, poo bum.

Wait I just read Kylie’s once near the middle and I have to agree whole heartedly with her opinion. And I wish I could forget I watched the movie. I wish I could forget so bad.

Ive watched the whole series at it was so so Great that i cant even stop watching them. The story was great, the characters, though it had a sad ending but it really fit the series itself. but about the Movie, i HATE IT!!!! if the series is really great, then make the Movie its exact opposite or worse. the beginning of the movie was good, that visual, fighting, and anything. but the ending was just so bad that i almost lost my respect to this anime. hope they make another sequel to fix things up and make ed and al with noah back to their own world, and fix that uranium bomb ed said in the movies ending.

i hated this movie! it was bad enough that the shows ended on a sad note but then the movie was like false hope! oh, he can come back and everything will be happily ever after… no! poor winry doesn’t even have al now! she waited so long for those two and now they’re gone for good. agh. i cried so much. no one should ever have to wish the hadn’t seen the ending of a show or a movie. it’s one of those things i wish i could go back and undo! i hate sad crappy endings.

sorry, i just had to rant a bit. and i will admit it started off amazing! i just wish there was another one to fix things for good.

The series was the best ive ever seen bought them all owned everything just because it was the greatest story ever the movie was a huge disapointment to many things that just sucked mainly the end of the movie i didnt really have a problem until ed and al both came to the real world that killed it for me but if you havent seen the series watch the movie first get the worst out of the way and then watch the series

I loved this movie! This is one of the only animes that I’d say sound about as good in English as they do in Japanese. Though I agree: the 52 or so episodes need to be watched before seeing this movie, and I somehow wished had ended differently…

i liked this movie a lot, but the ending was so sad. i cried XD but anyway, it was totally flawless with all the effects and the plot. i feel so bad for winry though. that was pretty much the only bad thing with it ^_^

this movie was not only disappointing, it was one of the saddest i’ve ever encountered. i loved the series so much as a show, and i hated the ending so i thought the movie would help make it better. it didn’t. the ending was possibly sadder than the ending of the series, and now there’s no chance for the Elric brothers to fix things once again. i actually started crying when this movie was almost over, because i knew it was too late for anything to go back and fix itself. what a joke!

this movie was spectacular with the plot, the animation and everything, i agree, but the ending was one of the saddest i’ve ever encountered. i couldn’t believe how much i cried *laugh*. i thought this movie’s ending would be a happy one, and i guess it was for the Elric brothers, but it was awful that they couldn’t stay where they belonged, in their own world. i think it was not only not fair to the characters (well, you may believe they’re just cartoons, but i feel for them anyway *laugh*) but it was also not fair to the viewers. this movie is so disappointing it’s not even worth ending the series with.

the best review i’ve read, and i loced the movie!! and the series, i own them all. what you’ve said is completly true about having to see the series first, because it’s all ased on what was left after ed left his world. i hope they make a second one because they left a plot open for another movie!
