i thought this film was a big let down. i was expecting zombie to recreated the micheal myers we have come to fear, but instead he turned him soft.
in the original film he was an un stopable killing machine, but zombie made him have a human side.
i feel this film was butchered and the old story line was much better!!
the ending was rushed and nothing compared to the orginal.
i think he should of just modernize the old film not make up loads of crap about micheal being in an abusive family, the fact that the old film showed him coming from a normal family then just snapping was much better as it gave the film mystery and wonderment on why he was the way he was.
bring back danielle harris would of been a smart move if they had given her more than three lines.
she is a good actress and i think she should of had a bigger part.
and malcon mcdewell as dr samual loomis just wasnt convicing, he totally over acted the part and this made him out to be a showboat doctor he even writ a book about micheal, it makes him out as if he isnt a really doctor. its rubbish!!!!!
in the fact that they killed myers at the end really infuriated me. i am a die hard fan of the halloween films and when i heard they were remaking it i was excited but skeptical, i was right to be.
i have just one thing to say if you are going to remake a classic dont add things to it that are so far away from the orignal story line as you just ruin the film and the audience will hate you for it!!!!!!

I had to go back and watch the 1978 version after seeing this just to remember why I was a fan in the first place. Shameful, shameful display. The mystery and suspense was totally lost and the rape scene just seemed thrown in because that is what this clueless director does. I understand that Mr. Zombie likes to portray a brutal reality with his movies, to make the audience really "cringe", but that was about as appropriate as if Han and Chewy started fisting each other on Hoth....
I apologize for the harshness but will someone take the camera away from this guy before he hurts himself.

Excellent review. Rob Zombie is, and has been a juvenile director - it seems that, not unlike early writers, his modus operandi is to tell, and not show what he wishes to get across to the audience. Language should be a facilitator to action; a tool to get a message across, not, as Zombie uses, it a strict and definitive background to characters. His obsession with white trash America has gotten old quickly and did not positively relate to the story - it seemed that he rushed through all the points that would make the film an original recreation to get to the death and destruction already inherent to the character. A slasher film it is, a portrayal of character it is not.

Agree with your point about the needless use of the F word. It is completely unnecessary. I can recommend Dead Silence (now out on DVD) for anyone looking for a decent jolt or two.
