Actually, when I first saw this in the late 80's I was part of that Michael Myers fanbase and the film pleased me very well. John Carpenter was right about changing the format, which was tired. I loved the third installment and think it's the best after the original. Let's face it the enitre series has become nothing more than a cash cow. The reason there's so many sequels is becuase the studios know are cheap to make, and will make a fortune in return, plus the audience will accept mediocrity at every level. Halloween III was the last film of the series to have any originality, and it should've ended there.

It's not the Harry Potter series that's for sure!

Taking everything into account I think that the story is so original and even though Nigel Kneale's original script was altered so much to detract from the Celtic Warlock themed bad guy, you can't help but take your hat off to it on the originality stakes in a wolr of rehashes I think a catagory B for itsa originality if nothing else makes it a worth slice of horror movie history.
