It was sooo much more enjoyable then the first two. The 'dark costume' Spiderman is one of my favorite Marvel stories of all time and I think Sam Raimi nailed it perfectly with his direction of Spiderman 3.

I love your comment about 'anti Peter parker' - this is something that I've been talking about since seeing the film. Raimi has a unique view of duality. Remember Evil Ash from Army of Darkness? Or how about the numerous characters who turn into zombies (deadites) in Evil Dead 1 and 2? Even Darkman is the opposite of Peyton Westlake. Remember the conversation Norman Osborn has with his reflection in the first Spiderman movie? Excellent examples of how Raimi likes to make the most dangerous character...oneself.

I am confounded by the fact that there's so much hate out there for Spiderman 3. It completely and utterly perplexes me.

Interesting review, it mirrors my own thoughts pretty closely. I found it much more enjoyable than the second movie, and the only disappointing thing to me was not enough explanation of the symbiote and not enough Venom. I thought Topher Grace did an excellent job as both Eddie and Venom, I thought Venom looked great, and was perfectly creepy.

Definitely the best of the three so far (in my mind anyway).
