Funny review... initially, you seem to want to make out that the movie isn't that good, but over the course of the review, almost despite yourself, it becomes apparent that it's quite a good movie. And it is: as someone who never caught it on TV in the 90s, but was around when it was originally released, the reason "everyone in the 90s" saw the movie outside of it's apparently playing endlessly on TV is because it's very good: a perfect B movie, nothing more, nothing less, but with the accent on "perfect." Or in other words, the movie makers knew exactly the strengths and limitations of their materials and actors and the like, and they amped the former while not going beyond the latter. Would that more movies - both lean on budget, or otherwise - were made that way. 350 million dollars and a whacking dollop of ridiculous self-importance to go along with it, and Avatar couldn't hold a candle to this.
