DVD Releases for Tuesday February 20, 2007

February 20, 2007 By Allison

babel-movie-dvd-releases-2-20-07.jpgThis week’s DVD releases aren’t looking too shabby, especially with the release of much-anticipated film Babel.

Here’s the complete lineup for DVD releases for Tuesday February 20, 2007:

American Hardcore
Babel
Crossover
Flushed Away
For Your Consideration
The Godfather of Green Bay
Going Shopping
A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints
Keeping Mum
Lunacy
Man of the Year
The Prestige
Shut Up and Sing

Did I tell you this was a big week, or did I tell you?  Babel aside, a good family movie is the newly released Flushed Away, there’s not too many okay family movies out there, so you gotta take what you can get, right?

Definitely skip over Robin Williams’ latest attempt at humor, Man of the Year, unless you want to end up in some kind of laugh-devoid coma.  But you’re pretty much going to have see The Prestige, if even just because of the all-star lineup including Hugh Jackman, David Bowie, Scarlett Johansson, Christian Bale & Michael Caine.

All in all, this week’s DVD releases were none too shabby, provided that you skip most of them.

February 13, 2007 By Allison

marie-antoinette-dunst-dvd-releases-2-13-07.jpg

Well this week doesn’t look that terribly painful for DVD releases.  Let’s see for the week of Tuesday February 13, 2007 we have the following films to feast upon:

13 Tzameti
Cave of the Yellow Dog
The Departed
The Departed
(2-disc Special Edition)
F**k
Half Nelson
Infamous
Marie Antoinette
Mutual Appreciation
The Quiet
Samoan Wedding
School for Scoundrels
(Rated Version)
School for Scoundrels (Unrated Edition)
Shock to the System
So Goes the Nation
The U.S. Vs. John Lennon
Zoom

My suggestions?  Skip down to The Departed & watch the movie at home this time with more extras & then check out Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette for either a good laugh at actress Kirsten Dunst or a mild appreciation for Coppola.

DVD Releases for January 30, 2007

January 30, 2007 By Allison

open-season-dvd-releases-1-30-07.jpgWell, if it wasn’t for Open Season I would have to have an open season myself on this week’s DVD releases.  The releases for the week of January 30, 2007 include Open Season, The Marine, One Night with the King, Working Girl & Facing the Giants.

Open Season features a 900 pound grizzly bear & a one-horned deer that end up stranded together in the woods during hunting season.  With voices that include Ashton Kutcher & Gary Sinise, this movie saves the week from drowning in below par films.

If you’re interested in a drama that didn’t quite reach the level of entertainment that everyone hoped it would, check out One Night with the King.  If you’re more into an intense thriller that falls flat on its face, see The Marine.  And if you’re looking for a movie who’s tagline is “With God all things are possible”, make sure to grab Facing the Giants.

I, myself, am still thanking Open Season for salvaging the week of DVD releases.

DVD Releases for Tuesday January 23, 2007

January 24, 2007 By Allison

saw-iii-dvd-releases-1-24-07.jpg

So, I’m a day late & a dollar short on reporting Tuesday’s DVD releases.  My sincere apologies, I got too award-show-excited & red-carpet-carried-away.

This week will be good to you on DVD releases if you like a little action & some more gore in your life.  Released Tuesday January 23, 2007 were The Guardian starring Ashton Kutcher & Kevin Costner as well as the much-anticipated Saw III (Unrated Edition) with all your favorite Saw characters.  I know you haven’t been shy at the movie store with the Saw series, they’re kind of addictive, right?

Also out this week are Cocaine Cowboys, Cowboy del Amor, Jesus Camp, The Puffy Chair, Sherrybaby, This Film Is Not Yet Rated & IFC’s Unknown.  I would personally skip the cowboys & head on over to Unknown, it’s looking pretty interesting to me lately.

Now it’s your turn- What DVD release is the best this week?
