‘Borat’ Most Popular DVD in Kazakhstan

March 12, 2007 by Allison

borat-dvd-sales-3-12-07.jpgWow, now that’s kinda funny.  Controversial movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is now actually the most popular & requested DVD in all of the fictional reporter’s home nation of Kazakhstan.

Amazon.com has reported that the DVD has topped Kazakhstan’s DVD charts.  Wonder who was on top before Borat….

Rakhi Parekh, the head of media at Amazon states, “It seems residents of Kazakhstan are now desperate to see what the fuss is about.

“They are even willing to pay the 505 Kazakhstani Tenge ($4) charge to have the DVD delivered from the UK.”

Well, here’s hoping it was worth the extra dough, though I doubt it will be.
