News: ‘Faces of Death’ feature gets director

October 27, 2006 by Mark Pellegrini

The ‘Faces of Death’ video cassettes were one those things you hid from your parents and watched at 3 in the morning on low volume so as not to wake anybody. You see, while other kids were masturbating, *I* was watching footage of people being slaughtered.

Well, the controversial video series is set to earn a feature film, and its just been announced that J.T. Petty has signed on to direct.

For those unacquainted with the Faces of Death franchise, they’re a series of video tapes released in the late 70’s and early 80’s by Gorgon Video. They feature “real” footage of people and animals being killed. Of course, it was later revealed that much of this “real” footage had been faked, yet they still remain impressively convincing. And, mixed in with the fake footage, IS some genuine video of dead bodies washed up on beaches or being cremated.

We don’t know the plot of the upcoming film, but I’ll be sure to see it.
