20th Century Fox is set to auction off more than 200 celebrity contracts signed by stars like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley & Marlon Brando.
The auction is to take place January 25 in New York; the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund, a non-profit organization for Hollywood actors & employees.
Among the documents us a rare 1046 memo advising Norma Jean Dougherty to change her professional name to Marilyn Monroe. Wow, that is priceless! Also up for grabs is a contract allowing Elvis Presley to violate grooming codes & wear his hair however he wanted in the film Love Me Tender. Well, Fox is giving up some gems, aren’t they?
Other original contracts include Lucille Ball, Cary Grant, Will Rogers, Rita Hayworth, Clark Gable, Katharine Hepburn, Lana Turner, Dean Martin, John Steinbeck, Natalie Wood, the Three Stooges & Judy Garland. So, pretty much something for everyone.
