Most memorable movie remakes of the decade

From 2000 to 2009, Hollywood attempted to remake a number of its classic movies. While some did well at the box office, others simply missed their mark. Movie remakes of classic films have truly become a trend in itself. As the trend continues, the demand for retrospective remakes is at an all time high. In fact, the previous decade was blanketed by movie remakes from a number of genres and styles. This was simply Hollywood’s attempt to recapture nostalgia, while countering the domination of Internet based video and movie sharing sites.

Leading the pack was Dawn of the Dead, a horror remake based on the George Romero classic. With Sarah Polley and Ving Rhames, the action was a lot more intense than the original incarnation. Film piracy is a hot topic. The entertainment industry is obviously against it and has moved for stricter penalties for piracy. The recent SOPA issue illustrates how desperately these entities want to control content that is available online.

There are those, on the other hand, who think that piracy should not be a penalized. This has created a lot of debate for and against piracy. If you think that all movies that are downloaded online that do not go through legitimate distribution services like Netflix are considered as acquired illegally, then think again. 7 Movie Nannies Who Should Have Never Been Hired

Have you ever been watching a movie and found yourself screaming at the parent for being such an idiot for their nanny choice? Now, this does not necessarily mean that things always turned out badly, but there were obvious warning signs that they were either not qualified or not a good fit. Of course, sometimes, the poor decision did cause a tremendous amount of grief. If only a thorough interview would have been done or references would have been checked, to avoid all these problems. Then again, what would a movie be without a little drama?

The Hand that Rocks the Cradle
If every mother didn’t already have the fear that their nanny would try to steal their husband and baby, they certainly did after this movie. Peyton Flanders, who is actually the widowed Mrs. Mott, terrorizes the family in the effort to replace the mother. She even secretly starts breastfeeding the baby so he won’t feed from his own mother anymore. Fortunately, this movie ends with the bad nanny being destroyed as she is shoved out an attic window and falls to her death. [Read more…]
